The Cushion Strut Clamp is a pipe support component designed to secure and tighten pipe directly to a 1-5/8 in (41 mm) strut channel. It is used as a rigid or semi-rigid hanger point in fire sprinkler branch lines, wet and dry pipe systems, deluge and pre-action systems, and in MEP pipe support assemblies where seismic restraint is required.
The clamp body is stamped from carbon steel and finished in yellow zinc for corrosion resistance in indoor service. An integrated cushion liner grips the tube firmly, dampens vibration, reduces transmission noise, and protects the pipe coating or galvanised layer from scratching and galling. The captive combo head machine screw is supplied pre-assembled, so the installer needs only one tool on site.
This strut clamp is suitable for fire protection piping, HVAC water piping, plumbing supply and drainage lines, and electrical conduit support. It is engineered to be used within pipe support and seismic bracing systems designed to NFPA 13, NFPA 21, GB 50981-2014 (Code for Seismic Design of Building Mechanical and Electrical Systems) and related project specifications. The size range covers 14 standard pipe sizes from 1/4 in to 4-1/8 in, from small conduit and tubing through sprinkler branch lines to larger riser and main connection diameters.
Cushion-lined grip. The liner secures tubing firmly to the strut channel while isolating metal-to-metal contact, which limits noise transmission and prevents damage to galvanised or coated pipe surfaces.
Interlock edges and channel locator legs. These features keep the clamp square in the channel and ensure the pipe remains in place during and after tightening, reducing misalignment and rework.
Load capacity 400–800 lbs per clamp. Rated values are published for each catalogue size, from 400 lbs on 1/2 in and 5/8 in up to 800 lbs on 2-1/8 in, so engineers can size hanger spacing against NFPA 13 and GB 50981 requirements.
Fire sprinkler systems. Hanger points for branch lines, riser connections and head spacing on wet, dry, pre-action and deluge systems in accordance with NFPA 13 pipe support requirements.
MEP seismic bracing. Used as the pipe-side component of seismic restraint assemblies in building mechanical and electrical systems designed to GB 50981-2014, paired with strut channel, threaded rod and diagonal braces.
Building fire protection risers and plant rooms. Support for galvanised steel fire piping in riser shafts, pump rooms, fire mains and valve chambers.
Commercial complexes and mixed-use towers. High-count hanger runs in shopping malls, offices, hotels and hospitals, where fast one-tool installation and vibration isolation matter.
Industrial factories and plants. Process piping, utility piping and sprinkler protection in manufacturing workshops and warehouse racking systems.
Underground parking garages. Ceiling-mounted sprinkler and utility piping on strut channel, where the cushion liner protects pipe coatings in damp enclosed environments.
Instrumentation, conduit and small-bore tubing. The 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" sizes support electrical conduit, signal tubing and small water or gas lines routed on the same strut channel as fire piping.
