UL FM Approved Pipe Sway Brace Clamp For Fire Sprinkler Support
The UTT13 UTT18 is a seismic sway brace pipe attachment (sway brace clamp) engineered to restrain fire sprinkler piping and mechanical piping against lateral sway and seismic disturbance. It serves as the pipe-attachment component of a complete sway brace system: combined with a structural attachment fitting and a brace pipe element, it forms a full seismic bracing assembly for gravity and non-structural component anchorage.
The clamp is designed for use in fire sprinkler piping systems, HVAC and plumbing pipe supports, and mechanical-electrical (M&E) piping where seismic restraint is required. It is intended to be installed in accordance with NFPA 13 and the manufacturer's installation instructions, and is suitable for projects following GB 50981 (Code for Seismic Design of Building Mechanical and Electrical Systems). Available in carbon steel and ductile iron QT450, with electro-galvanized (zinc-plated) finish as standard and hot-dip galvanized finish on request, and supplied under UL / FM listings.
Key Advantages
NFPA 13 & GB 50981 Compliant – Designed for installation per NFPA 13 sway brace requirements and GB 50981 seismic design rules for M&E systems.
UL Listed / FM Approved Options – Independently tested load ratings for fire protection and mechanical piping bracing.
Wide Pipe Size Range – Covers sprinkler pipe Sch 10 / Sch 40, GB/T 3091 and JIS G3454 pipes from 1" (25) up to 8" (200).
Robust Load Capacity – UL maximum design load up to 1,370 lbs (6.09 kN); FM horizontal load rating up to 1,010 lbs (4.49 kN).
Durable Corrosion Protection – Electro-galvanized zinc finish as standard; hot-dip galvanized available for high-humidity and underground parking environments.
Fast, Tool-Simple Installation – Installs with Sch 40 1" brace pipe; four nuts tightened to 40–45 N·m completes the assembly, reducing on-site labor for contractors.

For Pipe Sizes 1" to 6" (Top Row Reference):
Positioning (Step 1): Place the U-bolt or clamp body around the fire sprinkler or mechanical pipe at the designated node point. Ensure the clamp sits flush against the pipe surface.
Assembly (Step 2): Insert the threaded rod or brace connection component through the designated holes in the clamp assembly. Hand-tighten the nuts initially to hold the position.
Fastening (Step 3): Torque the nuts to the manufacturer's specified value using a calibrated torque wrench. Ensure the brace rod is aligned correctly with the structural anchor point to prevent bending stress on the clamp.
For Pipe Size 8" (Bottom Row Reference):
Component Alignment (Step 1): For larger diameters (8"), align the two-piece clamp housing or heavy-duty bracket around the pipe. Ensure the bolt holes are aligned perpendicular to the pipe axis.
Securing (Step 2): Insert the high-tensile bolts through the clamp flanges. Tighten the bolts evenly in a cross-pattern to ensure uniform pressure distribution around the pipe circumference.
Final Connection (Step 3): Attach the seismic brace rod to the integrated eyelet or bracket on the clamp. Verify that the connection is rigid and that the clamp does not rotate around the pipe.
The pipe clamp with pipe and other accessories' connection is as shown in the figure; The accessories of UTT18 use the sch40 1-inch pipe;
Tightened the nuts until 40~45N·M once the four nuts are installed, the installation is complete.
